Privacy policy

The short version: RankLens keeps your keywords and rank history in your own browser. There is no account and no server holding your data. The one exception is the weekly digest, which you have to switch on yourself.

What RankLens stores

The keywords you add, the positions recorded for each one with their dates, your shop name, the listing IDs you paste in Settings, and per-listing snapshots (price, review count) used to show change badges. When you open an Etsy shop page, RankLens also keeps a short-lived local note of the listings it saw there, so Settings can offer the one-click import; when you open a listing page, a similar short-lived note of that listing's ID and title, so the popup can offer to save it as yours. All of it is written to your browser's extension storage on the device you installed it on. It is not synced to us, and RankLens has no account system that could tie it to you.

What leaves your browser

Two things, and only these:

Requests to etsy.com. When you press Check now, RankLens loads public Etsy search pages in a background tab — the same pages, from the same browser, as if you had typed the search yourself. Etsy sees ordinary traffic from you, not from us.

The weekly digest, if you enable it. Enabling it sends your email address (confirmed by a one-time verification link), a random token your install creates (so only your own install can trigger your digest), and a locally-built summary — your keywords and their recorded positions — to our mail service, where the message is assembled and delivered by our email provider (Brevo). We store your email address, its verification state, a hash of that token, and the time of your last digest — never your rank history or browsing activity. To keep the service abuse-free, requests are also rate-limited by IP address; those counters expire within hours.

What RankLens never does

No analytics or telemetry of any kind. No third-party trackers or advertising pixels. No selling, renting, or sharing of data — there is nothing held to sell. No reading of your Etsy account, orders, or messages: RankLens only sees the public search, shop and listing pages you open, the same ones any visitor sees.

Permissions, and why each is needed

storage keeps your keywords and history on the device. Host access to www.etsy.com search, shop and listing pages lets the extension read the search results you see — to draw the context chips and record ranks — the public listing grid of a shop page you visit, to offer the one-click import, and the ID and title of a listing page you open, to offer to save it as yours. It never acts on Etsy on your behalf and never modifies Etsy's content beyond its own overlay. alarms and notifications power the optional weekly check reminder and the digest schedule. There are no other permissions, and none grant access to other sites you visit.

Deleting your data

Remove a keyword and its history goes with it. Uninstalling the extension removes everything the browser stored for it. If you subscribed to the digest, disabling it in Settings stops all sending; write to us and we will delete your email address from the mail service.

About this website

One clarification about this page itself, separate from the extension: this website loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so opening it makes a request to Google's font servers — ordinary website behavior, unrelated to the extension, which bundles its own fonts and makes no such request. The website sets no cookies and runs no analytics.

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the extension will say so before the change takes effect. Questions go to andrei.projects@proton.me and are answered by the person who wrote the extension.
